West Boca Raton Ends Cardinal Newman’s Five-Year Palm Beach County Winning Streak, 24–7

BOCA RATON, FL — West Boca Raton delivered one of the biggest statements of the 2026 Florida high school football season, defeating Cardinal Newman 24–7 on Thursday, September 10.

The victory ended Cardinal Newman’s remarkable five-year, 20-game winning streak against Palm Beach County opponents. It also avenged West Boca’s 26–20 overtime loss to the Crusaders last season.

West Boca improved to 3–0 and extended its overall winning streak to 10 games dating back to last season. Cardinal Newman suffered its first loss and fell to 3–1.

The Bulls Controlled the Trenches

Cardinal Newman entered the game averaging more than 40 points through its first three contests. West Boca’s defense completely disrupted that production, limiting the Crusaders to only seven points and approximately 135 total offensive yards—107 rushing and 28 passing.

The Bulls forced three turnovers and consistently controlled the line of scrimmage. Wally Harmon and quarterback Trey Moran contributed rushing touchdowns as West Boca converted defensive stops into offensive opportunities.

This was more than another regular-season victory. West Boca defeated a defending state champion, protected its home field and ended one of Palm Beach County’s most impressive local winning streaks.
